We appreciate your continuous engagement within the Oasis community. We love hearing how you are growing in Christ and bearing your cross daily as you walk with God in our world. We are grateful to God and count it an honor to serve you, your families and communities. In this episode 103, we discuss the importance of an anchor and hope in God in chaotic times. Just like a ship’s anchor steadies the vessel by sinking its arms into the seabed, so that the ship is not tossed about during turbulent waves, our anchor in Christ steadies our souls and keeps us standing no matter the chaos in our world. Let us thank God for this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure!

We proceed to discuss how our hearts is the seat of life as Proverbs 4:23 clearly states: “Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” Paying attention to the climate of our hearts and showing up for continuous check-ups with the Holy Spirit is essential to all followers of Christ to live out a life that produces godly fruits and testifies of the indwelling power of God. The fruits that our lives produce either testifies to the light of Christ or satan’s darkness. Let us continue to make room for the light of Christ to shine through our lives for the glory of God!

Lastly, we answer the question from one of our Oasis community brethren on how resentment develops and takes root in a heart. Resentment is a root of unforgiveness that becomes a stronghold in the life of a person. It develops in the climate of resisting God’s will. Let us be reminded that God’s will is His entire Word (Bible). To grow in our walk with God, involves a daily surrender to the will of God.

With back to school upon us, we pray God’s abundant blessings on families as they prepare for a new school year. We pray for God’s fresh grace on all educators as they impact students’ lives in this new school year. We pray for God’s covering on our communities for this upcoming school year.

Scripture Reference: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.” --- Isaiah 40:31

Summer is a traveling time for many of our Oasis family and friends. Our prayers cover everyone traveling this summer. Summer also gives us the opportunity to renew our pursuit with the LORD. It is a wonderful time for an annual spiritual check-up. The Bible tells us that the heart is the command center of our relationship with God. This means, our hearts needs regular check-ups, just as we do for our physical health. Here are three scriptures to guide our summer renewal.

(i) Proverbs 4:23: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” This is a scripture that tells us the critical importance of guarding our inner life (heart), because everything we do flows from the heart.

(ii) Psalm 51:10: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” This scripture tells us the importance of heart purity and alignment with God’s ways, will and kingdom.

(iii) Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” This scripture is one of the major reasons that regular heart checks are important to followers of Christ. This scripture tells us how easy it is for human hearts to be deceived, hence the importance of humans reliance on God, His Word and Holy Spirit.

So, this summer, let us be reminded about keeping our hearts free so that we have the "heartitude" (attitude of the heart) that pleases God at all cost. Heartitude is the attitude of the heart in any given moment, season or situation. Isaiah 40:31 is specific about the understanding of this scripture on "heartitude." The verse starts with the word “but” which is to introduce the idea that something contrasting has already been stated. Despite the contrast, feasibilities are presented. There is renewal of strength that only comes from waiting for the Lord. We see here a prerequisite that unlocks a supernatural strength when done in the right heart attitude.

This renewal of strength has some attributes that are lasting, unstoppable and impactful. As followers of Christ, our possibilities from this scripture include rising up with wings like an eagle as we live for Christ, running and not getting weary in life, and walking through whatever life is without fainting. Brothers and sisters, Isaiah 40:31 is God’s assured promise as we occupy for Him in the days we live in. With prayer and demonstration of God's spirit in us, may we continue to rise up with wings like an eagle soaring as Christ's ambassadors in a world that desperately needs the Savior-Jesus Christ! We love you!

Scripture Reference: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

From celebrating the reality of resurrection (Easter), followers of Christ all around the world are now setting their gaze towards Pentecost. This year Pentecost falls on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Pentecost is a celebration of the blessing of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Christ as explained in the Book of Acts 2: 1-31. The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity that abides with believers (Romans 8:11).

After the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the disciples committed a major amount of their time in the Word of God. Their Savior, Teacher and Master was no longer with them physically. The disciples searched the Word of God for their daily guidance and sustenance of their faith in God. The Word of God became their plumbline.

As followers of Christ, the Holy Spirit helps us to live in accordance to God’s ways. Our lives are under God’s eternal governance and require His truth to ensure Christ’s body of believers are exactly who He created us to in our world. In a time that there are myriads of deceptions, masquerading as truth, it is important for followers of Christ to stake their lives on the unshakable truth of God's Word. The Word of God has the power to do the following in our daily lives:

Sustain believers (Jeremiah 15:16-18)
Feed believers (1 Peter 2:2)
Quench believers’ thirst (John 4:14)
Fill believers (Colossians 3:16-18)
Wash believers (Ephesians 5:20)

We need the help of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives to sustain us, feed us, quench thirst, fill us and wash us daily in God’s holy Word. Without His guidance, assistance and friendship followers of Christ tend to lose their way in a chaotic world. As we look towards Pentecost this year, we encourage you to cultivate a deep friendship with the Holy Spirit. The impact and fruit from a Holy Spirit governed life brings honor and glory to God! (John 15:5).

Scripture References: “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." – 1 John 4: 10

“But God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:8

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9

Christians globally are excited to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ on Easter day on April 5th. But before we look to Easter- Resurrection Day, let us sit with the great importance of Good Friday- the day we remember with thanksgiving the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for humanity.

Someone out there in the world, may ask- there is nothing “good” about the day that a man was nailed to the cross and killed. This where we get this opportunity to share the Word of God with anyone struggling with this question. First, Jesus Christ is not just a man like us humans. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus Christ is God- the second Person of the Trinity. He is God incarnate – meaning Divinity made flesh. Jesus Christ did become man like us, yet He was God.

Secondly, Jesus Christ was not killed. He willingly gave Himself to go to the cross for mankind in alignment with God’s plan of redemption for mankind. Lastly, Jesus Christ was fulfilling the plan of God for man’s redemption.

It was a Good Friday because our Savior went to the cross willingly with love for mankind. Good Friday is what made Easter possible. Without Good Friday, we have no hope of eternity. Without Good Friday we have no friendship with God. Without Good Friday, we have no atonement of our sins. It is only because of Good Friday; we get to God through Jesus Christ our Savior. It was you that Jesus Christ was thinking about when He was on that cross.

This Easter is a great time to come to Jesus Christ. He is saying to you today- no matter where you are, what you have done, how far you may have gone, He is reaching out with arms wide open- beckoning you to come to Him. Come and find new life in Jesus Christ. Begin your resurrected life in Christ today! It is as simple as praying along with us here (scroll down to the Prayer Forum). Scripture References: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God- this is your true and proper worship." – Romans 12:1

“I want to know Christ- yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death." - Philippians 3:10

“Rend your heart and not your garments, return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity." – Joel 2:13

Christians globally have begun their lent journey for this year. Starting on Ash Wednesday (February 18), followers in Christ are encouraged to journey through lent this year for the next 40 days finishing on Easter day on April 5th. The lent season is a great opportunity for believers in Christ to continue to stay in the place of prayer for the many needs of families, friends, churches, nations, and communities. "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving" (Colossians 4:2).

Lent season is a time to renew, revive and flourish in one's relationship with God, growing even deeper roots that bear eternal fruits. In a time when many desire to know Jesus Christ in a personal way, followers of Christ have a great opportunity to share their salvation testimonies, share God's supernatural works, share answers to prayers, share their overcoming stories, and share why Christ is the source of their lives and sustenance.

“God sets the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land” – Psalm 68:6

We pray your year is off to a terrific one. By now, many churches and believers in Christ have completed their yearly call to fasting and prayer for the new year. However, the call for prayer and fasting for the new year might be finished; but not the call to pray continuously. We encourage each believer in Christ to continue to stay in the place of prayer for the many needs of families, friends, churches, nations, and communities. "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving" (Colossians 4:2).

In the last five weeks, psychologists have been focusing on a word “parricide.” This is an unfortunate word that is new to many people. From children, shooting and killing their parents, to spouses shooting and killing their children and spouses, we are seeing an unusual trend in our culture. The most concerning part for believers in Christ is that our culture is embracing this trend in parricide as “normal.” God’s Word informs us best as believers. This trend points to a deep spiritual need for transformation in our culture. Heart transformation is what brings outward transformation.

We are grateful to men and women of God and their ministries that have answered the call and charge for families globally! The family is the foundation of a nation. It is the foundation of a community. It is the foundation of a church. It is the foundation of any people. It is the foundation of a school. In this 2026 kick off episode of Oasis of Hope Podcast, Drs. Johnson & Feyi Obamehinti discuss and examine some root causes of parricide that spiritual leaders can start with in helping our nation and communities towards healing. Parricide can find a link to anger, bitterness, resentment, and secrets. All of these links find a way of metastasizing into hatred. Then hatred becomes a fuel and a burden that humans are not meant to have. God created humans to live, grow and flourish in love (1 Corinthians 13). Love is the glue, medicine and oil of a family.

Share this episode with friends, family and your networks. It is time for God’s people to rise up to the challenge of our culture and day as we establish God’s heart for families. Scripture Reference: "We will say of the Lord, He is our refuge and our fortress, our God; on Him we lean and rely, and in Him we trust” ( Psalm 91:2)

A few years ago, we shared a message about how critical the Word of God is to the believer. The Word of God is the fuel and sustenance of our relationship with God. The Word of God is the food for our spiritual lives. The more we dine on the Word of God, the more the impact and effect of God’s Word in every area of one’s life.

In a similar way, the words we speak have dynamite power. Whether we speak negative or positive words, our words carry power. The reason why this is the case is because that is how God created us as human beings (Genesis 1:3). A few years ago we had the privilege of serving in prayer and counsel a young couple about their young children. The children were having extremely bad dreams at night and woke up in their sleeps screaming. These young parents were scared and needed help. After our first prayer time together, we provided some scriptures and encouraged them to beginning “speaking” God’s Word over their children and use the scriptures in prayer. They provided an update a few weeks later, saying that they were seeing great improvements in their children and they were sleeping through the night without any incidence at night. They were relieved and grateful. This is one of the many blessings of God’s Word.

It is a new year, and many people will be making resolutions, and there is nothing wrong with making them. However, research shows that most of the resolutions made in January are typically non-existent by February. There is a much surer approach to transformation- it is the consistent power of God’s Word in the life of a believer in Christ. This approach is typically embraced by followers of Christ; and all are welcome to give the Word of God a try.

Recognizing how powerful the Word of God is and our words, gives us a deeper and keener awareness to the presence of God that lives inside of us. It gives us a keener awareness of the Holy Spirit. The more one is aware of the presence of God and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the more one becomes aware of the creative power of one’s words.

As the new year 2026 begins, let us “speak” the Word of God. Whether in prayer, or in encouragement to others. Let us be more cognizant of our daily surrender to the workings of the Holy Spirit. As we continue in this practice, we will release on the inside a storehouse of power, discernment and alignment to the purposes of God. We kick off this new year declaring: Let God’s will be done here on earth as it in heaven! Happy New Year!

We want to thank everyone that participated in last month’s Global Bible Month. We pray that the Word of God is nourishing your life in a fresh new way. With just one week left in this Advent season, our prayer remains the same- that each one that have dedicated time during this Advent season will experience Christ’s Presence, Mission and Character in ways that will yield continuous fruits to God’s glory.

Because of each of you, this year has been filled with thanksgiving, God’s faithfulness, God’s grace, God’s goodness and God’s greatness. Together we have experienced the supernatural hand of God. As we prepare to close out this year and posture our hearts for all God has in store for 2026, we want to challenge God’s people to bring back prayer (#BringBackPrayer).

Let us make 2 Chronicles 7:14 a touching point as we join our hearts together in prayer for our world. With continuous prayer, we will see the supernatural hands of God at work in every area of our world. God is a supernatural God and works in supernatural ways. This is why He is God! Greetings Beloved! We are so thankful for each of you as we close out this year’s Thanksgiving celebrations! For God’s people Thanksgiving is a lifestyle. We are grateful to God for His empowering Presence, equipping Purpose and His Powerful loving kindness. On the other hand, Thanksgiving postures our heart to reflect on the faithfulness and goodness of God. It is a powerful posture to take us into the season of Advent.

We are excited and ready to enter the season of Advent that begins, Sunday, November 30, 2025 to Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Christians around the world observe and celebrate Advent in a myriad of ways. Whether through focused prayer initiatives, focused acts of kindness or focused times of worship, Advent offers Christians a great avenue to prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior, King and LORD. No matter the selection of our focus this Advent season, let us use this season of Advent to press into the heart of God for the many souls around the world in need of a Savior- Jesus Christ!

For those that asked us for a guide for this year’s Advent, here is a short version of the Advent calendar to help with your Bible reading, prayer and worship times.
Week 1 (Nov 30- Dec 6): Focus on Hope- Coming of Christ from Isaiah 9: 2, 6
Week 2 (Dec 7 – Dec 13): Prepare –Make Straight the Way of Christ from Isaiah 40: 3-5
Week 3 (Dec 14 – Dec 20): Joy – Sunday of Rejoicing from Matthew 2: 10-11
Week 4 (Dec 21 – Dec 24): Love – Anticipate Christ’s Birth from John 3: 16-19

As shared each year, one of the major reasons we love the Advent season is because it gives us the intentional pursuit of God’s Presence to prepare our hearts, spirits, souls and lives for the celebration of Christ's birth. Advent gives us the focused time to reflect on Christ’s Presence, Mission and Character; first to us personally and secondly for the world at large.

As we look forward to the close of 2025, let the intentional pursuit of God’s Presence envelope all aspects of our lives. May the beauty of Advent be upon us as the Holy Spirit is poured afresh upon the lives of God’s people for the glory of God! Stay blessed in Christ, stay encouraged in God’s Word, and stay close to the Savior.

Scripture Reference: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12)

The need is great, and the call is critical for the Body of Christ to be who God has called us to be in this hour. We have been called to be holy, set apart for God’s use in a world that needs Him without recognizing they need the Almighty God.

One of the dangers of these times is not only inaccurate information parading as truth, but deception, and misinformation. This means for believers in Christ, empowering and equipping ourselves with the truth of God’s Word is not an option or a suggestion. It is a call to come up to God’s standards of being as Christ’s ambassadors. God is not lowering His standards because we are in 2025 or any other year.

In this insightful episode of Oasis of Hope podcast, Drs. Johnson and Feyi Obamehinti discuss the transforming power of God’s Word. They discuss how living out the kingdom life requires daily bread in God’s Word. This practice combined with daily prayer transforms lives for eternity. They invite believers in Christ to join in the 30 days Bible Reading challenge to observe the Global Bible Month. Believers in Christ can store up the treasures of God’s Word in their hearts and see a God kingdom change for eternal impact. Join them to hide God’s Word in our hearts.
