Today is the last day of school in many ways. Last day off school as students and educators go on Christmas break. Last day of my doctoral semester at TAMU. Grateful does not really do justice to all that is in my heart in expressing my gratitude to Abba Father, my wonderful husband, my precious daughters and caring friends. The months of June to this point, has been filled with data collection, analysis, final report, editing, and submission to my committee. I have to pinch myself several times that indeed my doctoral journey has come to an end. There are no more data to analyze for dissertation, no more articles to review for final report, and no more references to cross-check. The final product of approximate 200 pages of dissertation/record of study is finally completed! Thank You Lord!! What a Faithful, Faithful, Faithful God!!!
I am deeply grateful to God who saw fit to use this avenue to do His work in and through me. I have been blessed beyond words, undeserved in every way for this privilege to learn, stretch, grow and thrive. The privilege to work with leading experts in their fields, to learn and be mentored by each of them has been incredible. Also, I was blessed with the best doctoral committee any doctoral candidate could ever ask for. One key focus of reflection as I finish is based on Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”. The past four and half years have given me the opportunity to gain first hand deeper understanding on many problems not only in education but other areas associated with it. As if that was not enough, God in His infinite wisdom paved the way to utilize the acquired understanding to impact our next future leaders and all those that work with them in every capacity possible. There is a special blessing in finishing strong. God sure does all things well in His time- I am very grateful.
Getting an education should never be about any form of attainment. Rather, for believers it is about gaining understanding for advancing the kingdom of God in every sphere of influence in our world. The better understanding we have about any sphere of influence, the better prepared we are to shine the light we carry for God’s glory. There is no letting up, my passion for lifelong learning continues as I expand this acquired understanding for our future leaders. Living the mission to the glory of my Lord and King!
To all educators- get some well deserved rest this Christmas break. Rest, rejuvenate and refresh for a fantastic 2014.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
