Thanks Into Advent

Greetings Beloved! It's the weekend after Thanksgiving, our hearts swell with gratitude for the continuous goodness and loving kindness of God! We are thankful to God for each of you and hope you had a wonderful time reflecting on all the goodness of God to you, your families and friends. Though celebrated once a year here in the United States of America, Thanksgiving is a lifestyle for the people of God no matter what continent or country they live in. We are grateful to God for His empowering Presence, equipping Purpose and His Powerful loving kindness.
 
As we prepare to close out the month of November and prepare for Advent, we encouraged all our partners and friends this weekend to reflect on the infinite dimensions of the love of Christ our King and Savior! God's love is all around us. His wide love extends His arm to reach all people everywhere. His long love never ends, anyone can count on His unfailing love. His high love lifts our hearts and spirits when needed the most. His deep love covers, restores and holds us up. No wonder the Apostle Paul explains eloquently in Romans 8:38-39 that, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
 
We want to encourage you also to take time before the end of this month and thank God for the different dimensions of His love in your life, your family and that of your friends. Ask God to saturate His people with His love.
Prayer of Thanksgiving for:
1. Covering love of God
2. Redeeming love of God
3. Transforming love of God
 
With a heart postured in thanksgiving and filled with the love of God, we are ready to enter the season of Advent. This year Advent begins Sunday, December 3 and ends Sunday December 24, 2023. People around the world observe and celebrate Advent in a myriad of ways. However, for this year’s Advent, there is a global call for prayer for the collective Body of Christ as our world faces different types of turmoil. Let us use this season of Advent to press into the heart of God as we petition Him in prayer for a world in desperate need of the Savior of the world- Jesus Christ!

From Advent calendar to prayer points and devotionals, the 24/7 International Prayer Movement has resources to help the collective Body of Christ unite in prayer for our world. Let us allow God to birth something fresh this season of Advent. One of the major reasons we love the Advent season is because it gives us the intentional pursuit to prepare our hearts, spirits, souls and lives for the celebration of Christ's birth. As we look forward to the close of 2023, let the beauty of Advent be upon us as the Holy Spirit is poured afresh upon the lives of God’s people for the glory of God! Brothers and sisters in Christ, stay blessed, stay encouraged, and stay close to the Savior.

Repost: Joy of God's Fruit

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." - (Galatians 5:22-23, NIV)

It has been a while since we updated our Empower and Equip blogs here. Many of our friends and partners are subscribed to our weekly newsletter where we share prayer insights, prayer requests, and any ministry announcements. A few weeks ago, my wife and I were grocery shopping in our neighborhood. We were finished and got ready to check out. All the open three lanes had extra long lines. The self-check lines were also extra long. Suddenly, we saw a young man wanting to check out. He had just a few items in his basket. As he approached our checkout line, he asked us if he could please get in front of us to check out because he had a sick baby at home with his wife. I told him, to go right ahead. He thanked us profusely and said, he noticed us from the other side of the store and recognized us from church. We had no idea who he was but placed ourselves in his shoes. With a sick baby at home, anyone could see the emergency this young man had.

As my wife and I drove home, we reminisced on such times when we had a sick baby and needed a quick run to the store. As I closed out my day in prayer, my heart went to Galatians 5: 22-23 in thanksgiving for the young man we met earlier in the day and his family. The young man decided to come towards our checkout line because he knew of us from church. He believed my wife and I would understand. He knew of us because he had seen us at church, but we did not know of him or remember seeing him at church. Nevertheless, my heart was so full of joy that God was glorified as this young man's hope was fulfilled. 

That encounter brought Galatians 5:22-23 in a new light on how important the fruit of the Holy Spirit is in the lives of Christ's followers. As God's ambassadors in our world, we have the great privilege to represent God, His heart, His ways, His truth, and His life through the outflow of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. God is able to use the manifestation of His nature to bring hope to people, strengthen their faith, and encourage their hearts to keep living for God. In a time when we are seeing many young people who were once on fire for God, denounce their faith, we need a revival of the joy of God's fruit and nature in the lives of Christ's followers. In every way we can encourage the next generation in their faith, we commit to it.

Brothers and sisters, let's get back to the demonstration of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Let love be loud in our lives. Let joy flow out as a mighty rushing river. Let peace be evident in our lives. Let patience orient and envelope our lives, so that we are saturated with the life and nature of God. Each of these Galatians 5:22-23 fruit is meant to multiply and make us fruitful in every area of our lives. Let's stand shoulder to shoulder as Jesus Christ is glorified in our lives. Repost: What Are You Eating?

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true,  whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever   is pure, whatever is lovely,whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4:8, ESV)

The axiom that we are what we eat is not only for physical nourishment but also for our spirits and minds.  My wife and I like to cook and enjoy good food. It has taken years to train our digestive systems to eat foods that are high in fiber and protein with sparing carbohydrates. One of the highlights of raising our daughters was teaching them good healthy eating habits, which they now appreciate more as adults. It takes discipline and practice for the entire body system to be accustomed to specific foods.  Scientists have shown the correlation of healthy eating and healthy living.
 
Through the natural realm we gain a better understanding of the spiritual (1 Corinthians 15:46). In like manner, what we train our spirits and minds to eat will determine what they get accustomed to. Similarly, it also takes discipline and practice to experience the rewards that come from it.
 
Unlike the natural that is focused on physical nourishment, what our spirits and minds eat affects both realms and determines the level at which we experience the abundant life in Christ. It becomes important then to take great care and be intentional in what we feed our spirits and minds. So what should you feed your spirit and mind in order to be healthy and stay that way?  As people of God, we are very fortunate to have a plethora of encouragement from many great men and women of God who seek to glorify Him. Be it through sermons, books, or teachings. I am currently reading two books simultaneously from some of my favorite authors. Nevertheless, there is one main guide the scripture gives us in Philippians 4:8 when it comes to what we feed our spirits and minds.  
 
From this scripture, it is clear the kind of food we are encouraged to feed our spirits and minds. Brothers and sisters, feed your spirit and mind things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. With daily practice, your spiritual digestive system will be accustomed to such foods that lift up the name of Jesus and bring Him glory. God Bless you!

Our Living Hope

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land"--- 2 Chronicles 7:14

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We have so much going on in the world today, that sometimes can look hopeless. However, as believers we are admonished with an endless living hope- Jesus Christ our LORD. He is our portion and therefore we have hope in Him.

This week, the lent season begins (February 22, 2023 - April 6, 2023). This is a special season as believers all over the world intentionally journey with Jesus Christ in His ministry, crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection. May we encourage you to seek God the Father during this special lent season. Our pursuit in prayer, worship and the Word of God will not only infuse our lives with fresh oil for all God has commissioned us for, but our pursuit during this lent season could usher in a sweeping revival as we are seeing in many college campuses in the USA. That God would sweep not just our nation but the nations of the world with His glory and spirit is our earnest prayers.

God has promised that if His people called by His name, will humble ourselves, He will do something that only He can do for us. God's ultimate promise is to forgive and heal our land. We need God's healing in our lands. God is a promise keeper. He does not relent or change His mind on His promises. His promises are irrevocable. This is an assurance of our living Hope.

2023: Happy New Year!

As we wrap up 2022, we wanted to express our thanks and appreciation to each of you! Together we served over 12,500 families! From our mentoring seminars, food distributions, weekly TV program, community events, scholarships,monthly podcasts, weekly newsletters and weekly prayer chats, we have been blessed and honored to serve alongside each of you our board, volunteers, partners and friends.

A big thank you for giving of your time, money, love, hearts and lives to serve our families, communities, schools, churches and Body of Christ. Your input and feedback helped us in expanding our services and reach. Oasis Ministries now caters to the the Body of Christ globally (Oasis Connection Ministries) and outreach to our communities (Oasis Focus Inc.). Here is 2022 year in review. Thank you!

Our prayer as we embark on 2023, is that the immeasurable grace of God will be multiplied upon each of us for all God has in store for 2023. It is our prayer that every minister of the Gospel will receive from the fullness of Christ grace upon grace for 2023 in accordance with John 1:16. It states, " And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace." We look forward to all God will do through us together in 2023. The year 2023 is already in God's capable hands. We are excited to continue to partner with the Maker of heaven and earth as we partner with each of you to work together in advancing God's kingdom on earth. Let's look to Him as He guides us step by step for 2023. Happy New Year!

A Very Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Beloved Ministry Partners and Friends! We are grateful to God for His lovingkindness and goodness that allowed us to serve people in our communities together this year! Your partnership and support have blessed over 12,500 families this year! Thank you, thank you, thank you! This year we expanded the Oasis ministries to cater to both the Body of Christ (Oasis Connection Ministries) and outreach to our communities (Oasis Focus Inc.). 

Christmas reminds us of why we continue to help, serve people and share the love of God! Christmas is a great reminder that the Baby Jesus was born for the sole reason to save people everywhere as Matthew 1:21 tells us,"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins."  

Our prayer this Christmas is that Jesus Christ will be born afresh in every heart that needs to experience the lovingkindness of the Almighty God! From our hearts, family and team we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We love you!

This is one of the best seasons of the year! A time to focus on the meaning and purpose of Christ’s birth. With the onset of the Advent season, many of you reached out to let us know you are embarking on Advent for the first time! This brings us great joy that you will discover Emmanuel in a personal way as you journey through this Advent season. If you follow Oasis of Hope Podcast, we shared some ways to participate in this Advent season. From a time of consecration to an increased time spent in God’s Word, prayer and worship, Advent gives us the avenue to renew our minds and allow our minds to dwell on the incredible gift of salvation through Jesus Christ- who is the source of life and all eternal gifts now and everlasting.

We catch the importance of renewing our minds as believers and followers of Christ, with the major highlights the scriptures provides. Here are twelve scriptural examples on how critical our mindset are. Take a look at the connection to renewal, minds, thoughts and more in these scriptures:

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

2 Corinthians 4:16 - For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Psalms 119:11 - Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

Ephesians 4:23 - And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

 - Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Colossians 3:2
 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

John 8:32 - And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

1 Corinthians 2:16 - For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The beauty of Advent is that God births something fresh and new in you. This is one of the major reasons we love the Advent season. It gives us the opportunity to prepare our hearts, spirits, souls and lives for the celebration of Christ's birth. As we look forward to the close of 2021, let the beauty of Advent be upon us as the Holy Spirit is poured afresh upon our lives for the glory of God! Brothers and sisters, stay blessed, stay encouraged, and stay close to the Vine.

Excellence In Character Award

When we launched the scholarship arm seven years ago (2016), our quest was to seek out young adults living out the virtues outlined in the Excellence In Character Scholarship program. Back then our focus was just on Tarrant County. As requests came in to expand to Dallas County, we expanded the scholarship for North Texas. In its seventh year, we have been privileged to find young adults with a heart to serve others while living out the virtues of gratitude, appreciation, and service.

This year, we received many applications from both Tarrant and Dallas Counties. In fact, we had international applications as well. With multiple rounds of reviews, the winner of this year’s Excellence In Character Scholarship award is Marlene Tello, a vibrant young woman who understands why serving others is critical in being grounded in a world of entitlement. She is a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas ISD and now a student at University of North Texas, Dallas. She is a sweet young lady, who aspires to be an early childhood bilingual teacher. She exudes patience and love learned through personal experiences that have shaped who she is today. A product of the P-TECH program of Dallas ISD and Mountain View College, Marlene is the first person in her family to attend college. She maximized the opportunity to acquire college credits while carrying a full load towards high school graduation and various volunteer commitments. Through it all, she persevered and grew exponentially in her character.

Like everyone, Marlene has a unique story that she has allowed to develop and build her character. She understands that change requires internal resolve that springs into actionable outcomes. We are so proud of Marlene, all her accomplishments and all she has overcame in her life journey. Quoting Marlene in her scholarship application essay, "Giving back to the community is important for me, because I was able to learn various life lessons. I was never thankful for the things I had at home, and I never knew how to appreciate them until I started volunteering around my community. Volunteering opened my eyes to the fact that not everyone lives under the same condition as I did, and the world is not as it seems. Giving back fostered in me a sense of appreciation and culture of generosity.”
 
Great things are in store for Marlene! Her village of support is strong. With the character traits she has already acquired, we know she is poised for life-long success. Congratulations!!

Stretched Out Hands

The Bible is full of accounts of God's outstretched hands. His outstretched hands denote power, healing and strength. This is something to remember in the days we are in. With so much happening in the world, this is the message we are sharing with friends and partners from around the world. God is always in control. This focus is necessary for anchoring and steadfastness in walking with God.


We continue to stand in the gap for all families affected in Buffalo, Uvalde, Laguna, Tulsa, Philadelphia and recently in Owo (Nigeria). With physical, emotional and medical assistance and resources, we also believe in God's supernatural power to comfort and heal all affected families. We encourage believers to fast and pray for the Body of Christ as God's outstretched hands of love in these days.   

Here at Oasis Connection Ministries, we are growing and expanding. We are now under one umbrella- Oasis Connection Ministries with Oasis Focus Inc., as the school arm of God's outreach work to under-served communities. We appreciate all the feedback from partners and friends as we continue to update all aspects of God's work in our hands.

Easter Outreach

Oasis Focus Inc. family kicked off the 
month of April with an Easter Giveaway for Oasis Focus We Care Outreach serving our wonderful families in South Dallas on April 2, 2022.  With volunteers from different churches and denominations, we had the privilege to demonstrate the beauty of God's kingdom through His children who came out to serve our under-served communities. 

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone that made the outreach a memorable day for all our families in South Dallas. The testimonies have been moving, giving God all the praises and honor for what He does best! Thank you to all our ministry friends and partners that shared flyers, contacted press, and passed out information to all their networks. The huge success of the outreach was due to everyone sharing their gift to make Jesus Christ known through each one that served our families. The joy that rested upon everyone was deep and uplifting. Thank you to all our financial supporters and our partner agencies that put a smile on the hearts of our families - we are grateful to God for you! 
We look forward to serving even more families next time. 

Thank you to Feed The Children for their generosity. Thank you to the MLK Jr. Community Center for their hospitality. Thank you to all our terrific volunteers that came out with one heart and mind to serve in pure excellence! Thank you to all our board members for leading the way in each of their assigned areas- you make us so proud! Thank you to all our prayer partners, your prayers opened the floodgates of heaven upon South Dallas and we are grateful. This outreach is a fresh reminder of the reason why Christians celebrate Easter. It is for everyone that Christ came, died, was buried and resurrected.
