Beloved brothers and sisters, this Wednesday, February 18, 2015 marks the beginning of Lent. Right after Jesus was baptized, the Spirit of God descended and rested on Him. This encounter empowered Jesus for the days that followed as He was led into the wilderness for 40 days of prayer and fasting (Matthew 4:1-11).
These 40 days are observed all over the world by many Christians during what we call Lent. The 40 days prelude Easter. It really does not matter, if you observe Lent or not. God does not love you based on the fact of your observance or not. What really matters is to have a desire to grow in God and to grow with Him during these 40 days. The stirring in my spirit as I write this post, is for an avalanche of God’s power to cover the earth. What do I mean by this? It is possible for us as Christ followers to release the power of God through intentional prayer. There is a focus for this intentional prayer during these 40 days.
My beautiful wife and I have been fortunate to pray along with many believers on the 10/40 Window. This specific area of the world has the largest unreached people groups. Our understanding as followers of Christ on this specific area of the world is paramount to an effective prayer according to James 5:16b. One ministry that has been helpful as we prayed for this specific area of the world is the Joshua Project. It is a ministry that provides information and brings awareness about the different people groups in this area.
Dear brothers and sisters, if each of us would commit to pray for one of the 10/40 Window nations during these 40 days, I believe God will hear us and release an avalanche of His love and power to save, deliver and heal His people.
