As many followers of Christ would attest, it is impossible to have a relationship with God aside from His character. God’s character is what makes Him God! God is love, just, merciful, righteous, good, holy, sovereign, faithful, and the list is endless!
During our family’s homeschooling days, my wife and I had the opportunity not only to teach our daughters academics but also to lead them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Fast-forward to who they are today, I am eternally grateful for the bountiful harvest of those years of planting and watering into their lives. They are a testament to the goodness of God! Goodness is one of God’s character attributes that is solely based on what He has done and not on what we have done or will ever do. This is a vital truth that continuously nourishes my spirit, heart and faith.
Successfully seeing three children through the entire process of private and public high school, college and graduate levels, have made my wife and I deeply passionate among many areas about helping the next generation in every way God would allow. As a recipient of God’s infinite goodness, my spirit resonates with identifying the God kind of qualities in the next generation of leaders to attain their destinies.
To this effect Take Back Ministries has established the Excellence In Character Scholarship to recognize a graduating senior first in Tarrant County, with a strategic plan to expand each consecutive year. The intent of this scholarship program is to communicate the tangible love of God to the recipient as he or she pursues the destiny God has designed and assigned.
Particularly, we intend to celebrate the leadership of perseverance, initiation and compassion to serve voluntarily in the community. There are criteria for this young leader that will emerge through the application process. We are excited to meet this young leader in July when the scholarship will be awarded.
