John Waller just released an acoustic version of his song “Crazy Faith” in his new album Life is a Gift. The wordings of his song are close to any believer’s heart that has lived long enough to encounter the miraculous. The words clearly denote the life God calls each of His children to. It is the nature of God to call His bride deeper and deeper until the final destination before Him. This deeper call comes in many ways for each believer. The Bible is filled with numerous accounts of men and women that exhibited “illogical or crazy faith”. You probably have had at least one person question your illogical faith in God, or even demand an explanation for your posture of faith in God. Depending on the type of discipleship upbringing one is exposed to, illogical or crazy faith might be a misnomer to many. Illogical faith symbolizes belief or trust in God that is totally contrary to human reasoning or logic. As God’s people, we live, move and walk with God only through faith (Acts 17:28). Faith is the currency of the kingdom of God; a kingdom that is entirely supernatural. Simply stated, faith is agreeing with God about whatever He has said and what He is saying about anything now, then and future.
Crazy faith contradicts what we can analyze logically. It removes the natural realm from any type of claim to manifestation. I think of Abraham and the day God told him to sacrifice his only son (Genesis 22: 1-end). When it’s read, the entire story reads so smooth, that we don’t imagine ourselves in such a scenario. Abraham’s trust in God was illogical yet, he obeyed without excuses. His obedience laid on a foundation of intimate relationship with the loving God. He knew beyond a shadow of doubt that God is totally trustworthy. How does it make any sense, that Abraham would sacrifice his only son that he had waited a long time to have? The experience was definitely an awkward one for Abraham. I believe the Bible had that awkwardness in sight, when Romans 4:3 records that” Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness”. Abraham’s experience absolutely contradicts human reasoning. That’s exactly the point of illogical faith- it makes no human sense. The acclaim of manifestation goes to God, because it takes His “super” on the natural to manifest the supernatural.
The Christmas story gives us a clear impression of illogical faith on the part of Mary and Joseph who both agreed with the word of the Lord from the angel, sent to inform them about the birth of our Emmanuel. Mary’s response, “Let it be done to me according to thy word” is absurd to human reasoning, yet a strong indication of her faith in God.
Every child of God has been given a measure of faith that we can be put to work in every area of our lives (Romans 12:3). This means, every believer has the seed of illogical faith; a faith that defies human reasoning. Whether you want to believe it or not, if you look back on 2013, you will see many threads that demonstrated illogical faith. You will also see that those threads carry some incredible memories of your most intimate relationship with God no matter how those threads played out. You see, God is not surprised by any form of awkwardness when it comes to demonstrating our faith or trust in Him. He honors faith because faith honors Him. Fellow believer and co-laborer, as you prepare for 2014, let those incredible threads of illogical faith that you have experienced in 2013 encourage you to believe God quicker, deeper and partner with Him whatever He may call or ask of you. When the Lord gave me the word “supernatural” for this year, I had no idea how the threads would unfold. Looking back at the year 2013, every single step God asked for, called for illogical faith in other to encounter the supernatural. Each step lead to supernatural encounters that manifested how God had designed it. May I add that these supernatural encounters of 2013 are now precursors for 2014 and beyond. I don’t know what God will ask of you now or in 2014, but I know whatever it is, will demand illogical faith that defies human understanding. As you get your heart, family, profession, ministry or business ready for 2014, determine right now that whatever the Lord ask of you, your answer will be “Yes Lord”. You will be richer in grace, love, joy, and the fullness of His Spirit. May the year 2014, be a year of unprecedented exploits for the glory of God in your life, family, loved ones, profession, ministry and business in the matchless name of Jesus Christ!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
There are two kinds of faith. There is the natural faith. But the supernatural faith is the gift of God- Smith Wigglesworth
