The Unshakeable Kingdom

7/27/2015

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe. Hebrews 12:28 ESV.

When our daughters were little, my wife and I taught them the essence of giving thanks. My wife would then have follow up sessions with them and have them write down at least one thing they were thankful for in their journals.  Now as young women, our daughters not only keep a gratitude journal but also they love to express their gratitude. As a father, it blesses me to hear them express their gratitude to God in prayer, to their mother, each other, family, friends and people they encounter on a daily basis. Such is the heart of our heavenly Father, when we as His sons and daughters express our appreciation for whom He is and all He freely bestows on us.

What brought this insight was what I experienced at our summer board of directors meeting last week. With every board member present sharing their hearts for the kingdom vision, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the kingdom of God that manifested through each of them and for us as God’s beloved for what we have received from Him.  In each child of God, is deposited a treasure of immeasurable wisdom of the Holy Spirit that is activated in fellowship with each other.  Matthew 18: 20  (For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them), conveys the truth of what happens when the presence of God is released in our midst. Nothing can shake this truth. No cultural shift can shake this reality. In fact, the word of God tells us that all creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakeable things will remain (Hebrews 12: 27-28 NLT).  This is our assurance as we see everything around us shaken; we know that only unshakeable things will remain; which is the kingdom of God. These are eternal things. They cannot be changed or destroyed no matter what happens. The knowledge and experience of this truth is powerful.

Dear brothers and sisters, may I encourage you today with the following ten unshakeable truths about an unshakeable kingdom?

God: “Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD God is the eternal Rock.”  Isaiah 26:4

God’s Throne:
”Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.” Psalm 45: 6

Righteousness: “His righteousness endures forever.” Psalm 111:3

Mercy: “His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

Truth: “The truth of the LORD endures forever. Praise the LORD!” Psalm 117:2

His Word: “Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89

The Gospel: “Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth; to every nation, tribe, tongue and people.” Revelation 14:6

Covenant: “He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name.” Psalm 111:9

Christ the Lord:
“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Revelations 11:15

The Holy Spirit: “But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come on you: and you shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8

Beloved, with these anchoring realities that we live in as children of God, let us therefore be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe (Hebrews 12:28).

The Spirit of Prayer

Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem” Zachariah 12:10a

Dear brothers and sister, for the past two weeks, the Holy Spirit has stirred my heart on the call of prayer for nations and the times we live in.  I am not talking about the usual type of prayer. I am talking about “a spirit of prayer” that God promised in Zachariah 12:10a. Whether we look at the apologetics of this scripture in a historical or literal context, one thing is sure, there is a spirit of grace and prayer promised.  God wants to pour this spirit of grace and prayer upon His sons and daughters in these last days.

It will take a hunger for an awakening or revival in our time to experience the spirit of grace and prayer. It will also take stewarding to maintain the flow of the anointing of prayer that brings revival.  For the nations of the world and especially America to experience a mighty move of God, we need an out pour of the spirit of prayer with a posture of travail for the souls of people that desperately need Jesus. The spirit of grace and prayer is promised because God loves people, despite the free will we have as humans. The outcome of harvest of souls is a guaranteed promise made possible by the love of God.

The spirit of grace and prayer is able to bring gracious convictions, spiritual revelations that will usher in repentance, regeneration, and restoration for endtime harvest of souls.  The spirit of grace and prayer is able to bring unprecedented deliverance, faith, fervency, and availing for the kind of manifestation the apostles experienced in the book of Acts.  Not only is the spirit of grace and prayer the precursor for an awakening in our times, but also, it is the manifestation that enables God’s people to maintain the temperature and tone of a supernatural life in our world.

However, there is a price for the spirit of grace and prayer, made known to each follower of Christ by the measure of faith distributed by God Himself.  May the mercies of God and His awesome fame described in Habakkuk 3:2 be a reality in our time, in our midst, in our families, in our communities, in our nation and in our world.

“ Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”
