We as followers of Christ can attest to the power of prayer. Prayer releases heaven on earth, no matter the situation. Prayer is God’s avenue to manifest His desire here on earth. Prayer is God’s wind of goodness to humankind. As important as prayer is, it is sometimes the last thing humans turn to. Maybe, it’s because prayer demands some key ingredients that could make it challenging. People could use the effectual fervent prayers of followers of Christ at this time in world history. Nations of the world could use the effectual fervent prayer of God’s children. Every human can use the powerful prayers of believers at this time (James 5:16b).
Prayer demands transparency of spirit, soul and heart (Hebrews 11:6). It is impossible to release heaven on earth with a hidden spirit, soul or heart. Effectual fervent prayer requires an emptying of spirit, soul and heart. This kind of prayer is transformative.
Prayer demands child-likeness to unlock the treasures of heaven (Mark 10:15). It is impossible to release heaven on earth with the stance of an obstinate mind before a Majestic Loving God. This kind of prayer is restorative.
Prayer demands dependency on the Holy Spirit to transfer heaven here on earth (Romans 8:26-27). It is impossible to release heaven on earth leaning on human understanding. Only the Spirit of God knows and understands the mind of God. This kind of prayer is empowering.
God’s heart has always yearned for a united body of His followers. The scriptures in John 17:20 explains the Father-Son desire for a united body of Christ. United in the finished work of Christ, united in the plans and purpose of God, united in His name, united in His love and united because of the cross. Prayer unites us in Christ, in whose matchless name we petition Abba Father. The man or woman that is privileged to know the secret of prayer is a formidable vessel in the hands of a Sovereign God.
May we choose to turn on the light of prayer in these desperate times. So, brothers and sisters, as the scriptures encourages in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, let us pray for all people. Let us ask God to help them; let us intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
