It is election year and we are facing many unpredictable times yet an unchanging God. It is not by accident the Supreme Court will be ending its term this month. Incidentally, today the Supreme Court has ruled on heavily contested immigration issues. It is now time for us as believers to strap our praise shoes on and praise the just and incorrigible Judge. The Psalmist said “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend the Redeemed Christian Church North America Convention. The three day convention was packed with powerful apostolic leaders from around the globe. Heaven descended on Greenville, Texas and God inhabited the praises of His people. The tangible presence of the Lord was manifested in the midst of God’s people. It was not an accident the theme for this year convention was “A New Garment”. Convention speakers included but were not limited to Bishop Kenneth Ulmer and the General Overseer of the RCCG Worldwide (Pastor E. A. Adeboye).
They spoke from Isaiah 61:1-3 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;2 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Both men of God declared the word of God for this hour: It’s time to wear the garment of praise. It is a confirmation from heaven to
God’s people. God inhabits the praises of His people.
In few days, we will begin our journey through the second half of this year. Regardless of how you started, it matters how you continue to the end of the year. God is calling His children to trade in our clothing of heaviness for a new garment of praise.
Will you answer His call? Remember how God used praise to bring down the walls of Jericho? The walls came crashing down, giving victory to God's people, as a result of shouts of praise (Joshua 6:1-21).
I believe God is about to do the same for us this election year. Regardless of what is happening around us, heaven will open up for us. Put on your garments of praise and let us take our rightful place.
