Oasis of Hope

11/20/2017

"He turned the desert into pools of water and the    parched ground into flowing springs." Psalm 107:35

Hope in the right source is a reasonable confidence. The only right source that can vouch for a blessed assurance is God Almighty. Hope in the wrong source is the bedrock of chaos. However, despite this state of wrong source, God in His loving kindness pursues and reaches out to His creation. God’s outreach brings about an oasis in the midst of the chaos.  God specializes in turning desert into pool of water and parched ground into flowing springs.  He creates an oasis in the midst of unlikeliness. This beacon of hope has been the theme towards our assignment.

As you may have noticed over the weekend, we now have a new name and logo design on all our social media platforms. Both of these changes signify the direction the Lord is taking us as we embark on the New Year.  Oasis Focus Inc. is now our new ministry name. It transmits a much clearer message of the heartbeat of what our mission and purpose is all about. We are excited to continue to provide an oasis of hope in the marketplace, to families and our public schools as we represent our Lord and Savior with mercy and truth (II Samuel 15:20). As followers of Jesus not just in this ministry but for every son and daughter of God, our highest honor is to represent Jesus Christ as ambassadors here on earth. And we do not take it lightly.

Beginning next year, our social media posts will change from daily posts to either once or twice a week. We want to be efficient stewards of all God have given us. This does not affect prayer requests. We will continue to receive and respond to your prayer requests as we normally do. Also, we will continue in weekly prayer time for you and your families. Continue to send us your prayer requests to the new email: info@oasisfocus.org

In line with providing an oasis of hope, God has opened the door for a TV program that begins January 2018. He has given the privilege to reach into an estimated 29 million homes with the message of hope through an amazing Christian Network. Oasis Connection will be a weekly TV broadcast that will provide hope for God’s people. I will share more on this next month with station listings information. Along with other men and women of God, I am very excited for the revelatory hope of God that will meet people right where they are. Our God specializes in doing that.

My beautiful Queen on the other hand, will be running for office as a member of the Texas State Board of Education in District 11. Those of you that know her, can attest to the fire she has for all things teaching and learning. I am a better man because of her life and example. Our daughters are who they are today because of her life and example. This goes for the many countless people she has influenced through the years. Back in the days when I served as a Republican Election Judge for Tarrant County, my wife would pack my lunch bag and provide snacks for my polling station workers. To see her today running for office is beyond fantastic. Our family is excited and so proud of her.

In concluding this announcement post, I want to leave you with this word of encouragement; God’s existence in you as His son and daughter, is the oasis of hope for now and eternity. In fact, God specifically designed you to be a recipient of His grace now and for eternity.  God desires to lavish you with the expression of His loving kindness. He is a good, good Father. May the blessings of Christ’s fellowship rest afresh upon you and your families as you celebrate Thanksgiving Day.  I thank God for you!

Repost: Well Of Gratitude

11/3/2017

Beloved brothers and sisters, my Beautiful Queen has chronicled an encouraging post that is a hallmark of godliness. Gratitude is like worship. It has to be cultivated and consistently maintained in other to reap the benefits. May God Bless you and your families during this season and always.

Howdy Friends!

Can you believe it’s November?! It’s like I blinked and November is here! Already seeing Christmas decorations! Yes, that’s how we roll in Texas! Dropping in to kick off thanksgiving since that’s just around the corner. It has been so enriching meeting many educators new and old across the nation and state. From training sessions to conferences, I have enjoyed our time of learning and shifting together.

Some of you might remember a while back when I shared about keeping a “gratitude journal.” I hope your journal is now full and you are on a second, third or even fourth gratitude journal.  This year alone, I have used up three gratitude journals and on my fourth one. There is so much to be thankful for when our minds are set on the beauty in and around us. Growing up, my grandmother had a favorite saying, “Those who are filled with gratitude have no room for complaining.” This is right on point, since we can only be filled with one or the other and not both.

Being filled with gratitude is a choice and a lifestyle. We can choose to set our minds and gaze on futile things or we can choose to set our minds and gaze on worthy things. We get to decide which well to draw from. It’s either the “well of gratitude” or the “well of complaining.”

We have made it past snapshot date, so for many educators the challenges are beginning to set in.  However, we still have the choice on what we will be filled with amidst all the challenges. Masters of this lifestyle know it becomes much easier to see the worthy things once we set out on the roadway to gratitude. Will we see the potential in that student or the challenge of his/her behavior in the classroom? Will we see the privilege to influence a generation for greater or will we see the challenge of a toxic culture? Choosing to see the beauty sets the thermostat of our minds and hearts on automatic.

Before all the busyness of the holiday season begins, choose which well you are going to draw from. Choose what and where you will set your mind and gaze on. A mind and gaze set on gratitude is unshakable, unstoppable, unmovable, and satisfying.  Choose wisely your well! Until I drop in again, have a wonderful fulfilling time giving thanks! Love & Blessings!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good”- 1 Chronicles 16:34a.
