As we finished our conversation, he asked that I pray specifically for his ailing father, who has been in the hospital for some days. He also asked if he could share a short story about his father with me. His father is a fingerprint analyst with a law enforcement agency. When he was a little boy, his dad would take him to his office and show him how he analyzed fingerprints. Tears welled up in his eyes as he shared the story. We prayed and I encouraged him from Psalm 31:14 “But I trust in you, O LORD, I say, “You are my God.” This past weekend, he called with the good news of his father’s discharge from the hospital. He is back home and will be back to work this week. To God be the glory!
This conversation with this young man last week has stayed with me in my meditation time as I prepared to write this post. Specifically, my spirit has been drawn to the intricacies of God’s creation in each of us. Government systems all over the world, maintain an automated fingerprint identification system that holds thousands and thousands of fingerprints, making it possible to identify an individual in cases of crime.
Now think about our majestic God-the Creator is. He has no set up systems, yet He fully knows each one of His creations. He made sure your fingerprint is unique to you. It’s a physical sign of your identity. Just for fun, my wife and I did a painting stain of our thumb fingerprints. We looked at the streaks of similar lines yet very distinct composite of design. That’s how majestic our God is! Though we are similar, yet we are distinct in all aspects of identity.
What would happen if each follower of Christ lives from the place of dominant marking of our identity in Christ Jesus? I wrote, “Take Back Your Ground! It’s Yours in Christ, for this reason of how vital the marking of our identity in Christ is. You see, what would happen is that you will know and experience how deeply a loving magnificent God loves you. You would know your inheritance in Christ. You would know and grow in your understanding of who Christ is in you. You would be unmovable and unshakeable in your relationship with God, His Son and the Holy Spirit. You would experience the transforming power of God’s amazing grace and give it away freely with no strings attached. You would live each day in celebration of the amazing person God created you to be. You would be who God made and redeemed you to be!
Your identity in Christ is very powerful. It is the core of your walk with God as a follower of Jesus Christ. Without knowing it, you would wander aimlessly, waste time, waste your scars, waste your talents, waste your gifts, waste your testimony, and more importantly, waste your life.
As you journey in your walk with God, leaving your fingerprints in the sphere of influence He has you in this season, let Christ make room in your heart ,be at home in your heart and life, so that your life will sparkle for God’s glory!
