There are three characteristics which can define a disciple of Christ.
Commitment: Disciples are committed to a leader and the cause the leader is passionate about. Matthew 6:26 says we cannot serve two masters; you must love one and abhor the other. True disciples are irresistibly loyal and dependable. True disciples are people consistently faithful even in little things. When we are faithful in small things, the Lord is then able to bless us with abundantly more than we could ever imagine.
Perseverance: True disciples endure hardships amidst any circumstances or situation they encounter in life. They are typical die hard individuals who do not give up easily. They know what they believe and in whom they believe. The confession of true disciples can be found in Psalm 119:112, “I have inclined my heart to perform your statutes forever, even to the end”.
Spiritual hunger: True disciples have an unquenchable zeal to know the Word of God. Additionally, they meditate frequently on the Scriptures. (Psalms 63:1-3 and 24:3-6) Daniel writes those that know their God shall be strong and perform exploits. Knowing God intimately only results from spending extensive, quality time with Him.
