The camping experience in God's presence creates:
- a fresh longing for God
- a fresh baptism in His love
- a burning desire for souls
- a new hunger for His word
- a deep call for what I call weightiness in the Spirit
- a clarity in the things of God
- a succinctness in hearing the voice of God
- a transparency before God and people
- a settled assurance of His peace
- an overflowing gratitude and satisfaction of sonship
Why would God’s presence be a big deal? It would not be a big deal if our culture had a slower pace to its rhythms. It becomes a big deal because of the price anyone has to pay to defy the fast rhythms we are all so accustomed to. It is impossible to desire God’s presence and still maintain the same pace we are accustomed to. Something has to give, in order to experience the fellowship of His presence. However, it is worth any price to flow in this divine essence that does not offer drive-through or microwave services.
And to think that God Himself, our Majestic Creator, desires to have us in His presence is too much for our frail human understanding. But, He really does. The Bible tells us that the very desire to seek God or want to be in His presence begins with Him (John 6:44). Our human heart does not have that ability to seek God independently. When we find there is desire, there is longing, there is a “want to” in our hearts for a loving God, we are captivated with an awe and excitement to come closer and fellowship in His presence.
Slow down enough to hear Him calling. Calling to a deeper place in Him. Calling to know you. Calling to help you. Calling to change you. Calling to infuse His divine essence in and through you. Calling to transform you. Do you hear Him calling you? The choice to answer or not is yours. I encourage you to answer and see what He does in you!
