Kingdom Living

11/3/2012

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matt 6:33).

The Bride of Christ is adorned with elegant royalty bought and paid for by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Savior. This royalty places every believer in Christ right at the center of the King’s domain. In His days here on earth, Jesus used many images to explain what the kingdom is like. Jesus did this because then many of His followers did not understand what the kingdom meant. In those days as well, many people sought national restoration that would give them a leader who would establish an independent nation apart from the Romans. People wanted a country of righteousness, glory, peace and blessings, one that everyone would want to belong. Jesus knew that there was a great misunderstanding about the kingdom of God; hence He used parables to bring understanding to the people about the kingdom of God.

It is 2012, an election year here in America. There is a similarity with those days when Jesus lived here on earth and now. People want change - a type of national restoration. People want jobs, peace, morality and a better system of government. The truth of the matter is that God is the only source of such restoration that we seek as a country. To experience this, we must return to the source of life as a people and as a nation. May I take this time to encourage believers not only here in America but everywhere; the kingdom we now live in and that we live for, is not of this world. It is an everlasting kingdom. It is a kingdom that is not governed by man-made laws or systems. It is a kingdom that is governed by the Creator of the heavens and the earth. It is a kingdom that knows no limit and has no limits. It is a kingdom of power, peace, joy, righteousness, redemption and restoration.

The good news is that next week’s election results are not going to change the purpose and mandate of the kingdom of God. May we find much more delight in living in this kingdom, in living for this kingdom and in living with this kingdom as the Bride of Christ. In the Old Testament, Daniel exemplifies what this type of living in, for and with the kingdom is all about in Daniel 6. He was not afraid of the lion’s den, he knew the God in whom he has placed his trust. Daniel knew the value of the kingdom he represented, no matter the outcome in the lion’s den he knew his God was faithful and in control. In Daniel 3, we see a similarity with the three Hebrew men. They affirmatively declared in verses 17 and 18, the value of the kingdom they represented, “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of thy hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” In the New Testament, Apostle Paul understood this living in, for and with the kingdom of God concept as well. He eloquently declared in Romans 8:38 and 39, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” God is calling His bride back to this type of kingdom living. It is my prayer that we heed the call.

We the Bride of Christ, have the key for national restoration, not the government. Politics often can cause division among believers, and this should not be the case. Let’s rise to the occasion and take back our nation, communities, families, schools and systems for our King. All these are His entire domain. There is nothing that can stop us, when we as believers are determined to live in, for and with the kingdom of God.
